Ode to My Vehicle

When I first came up with the concept to write a three - chord rock and roll
song that sounded progressively more contemporary with each verse, I
expected it to be fairly challenging to fit modern metal riffs into the old
A - D - E pattern. It wasn't. As it turns out, three - chord rock and roll is
timeless. In the words of Chuck Berry, "Hail, hail, rock and roll"!

Some of the retro stylings in the song are fairly generic within the context
of rock music of a particular period, while others are more intentionally
reminiscent of specific bands with which I most strongly associate a time.

Lyrics

Why is every song about love?
Why is every song about death?
Why is every song about drinking booze, smoking dope
Shooting up and snorting crystal meth?

Why is every song about hate?
Why is every song about life?
Why is every song about the girlies and the boy toys
And cheating on your husband or wife?

Why is every song about God?
Why is every song about war?
Why is every song about the fables and the legends
And the myths from generations of lore?

Why is every song about Satan?
Why is every song about peace?
Why is ever song about the mountains and the seas
About the deserts and the forests
And the flowers and the birds and beasts?

Why is every song about freedom?
Why is every song about being lost?
Why is every song about money and debt and wealth
And greed and calculating the cost?

Why is every song about oppression?
Why is every song about home?
Why is every song about eternity and fleeting time
And wishing not to face it alone?

Why is every song about dreams?
Why is every song about sin?
Why is every song about playing the game
And whether you break even, lose or win?

Why is every song about nightmares?
Why is every song about virtue?
Why is every song about discovery and loss
And all the things that may or may not help or hurt you?

Why is every song about hope?
Why is every song about madness?
Why is every song about surrender and rage
And confidence and fear and joy and sadness?

Why is every song about despair?
Why is every song about sanity?
Why is every song about playing guitar
And fortune and fame and vanity?
